I decided to attend graduate school in social work so I could have a career that would allow me to live my values each day. It has not disappointed me! Connecting with real people, and working to improve the quality of life for people in the community has been all I ever wanted to do. For over a decade working in hospice and with older adults, I felt fulfilled in my work in the non-profit sector. As a therapist, I am inspired by the healing power of relationships.
My education, training and memberships:
Hello, and thank you for finding me here. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work. Becoming a social worker has afforded the privilege of working in the Central Texas community for more than 15 years, primarily with people experiencing grief & loss, chronic and terminal illness, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Presently I am in private practice and see clients in a lovely office space in downtown Round Rock. I no longer office in North Austin, but am co-owner of a group practice there, Moonstone Counseling. I do offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Westlake.
My therapeutic style is relational and I work hard to meet the individual needs that clients bring into the room. I strive to be creative with clients and encourage work and growth between sessions. Even though counseling is often serious and heavy work, I enjoy laughing together (and sometimes crying) and experiencing genuine connection through shared experiences.
In my personal life, I enjoy the creative arts. I am currently into calligraphy and resin art. My favorite outlets for stress include baking and cooking, playing tennis or riding my Spin bike, and writing about issues relevant to parenting. My essays have been featured on Scary Mommy and Motherly. I like learning about the Enneagram (I am a type 2) and listening to audio books. I enjoy traveling with my family and my next dream destination is to get to Prince Edward Island, Canada.
